Miscellaneous Activities

Outline of activities organised and attended by MCTC.

28th and 29th September 2004 - The Protem President, Deputy President and four Committee Members attended a two-day workshop organised by C-TOB to develop a proposal to be presented in a Forum for TAK NAK Campaign. The workshop was held in Gurney Hotel, Penang and was also attended by researchers and advisors linked to C-TOB.

12th October 2004 - MCTC participated in the Forum on Blueprint for Tak Nak Campaign which was organised by Ministry of Health at the Institute of Health Management, Kuala Lumpur. The Honorable Minister of Health Malaysia, YB Dato' Dr Chua Soi Lek officiated the Forum and also launch MCTC, presenting the Certificate of Registration of MCTC from ROS to the Pro-tem President followed by a short video presentation on MCTC. Seven out of nine Committee Members attended the forum. The Protem President Prof Dr Syed Aljunid also presented a paper entitled "Economic Burden of Smoking" at the Forum which also proposed that MCTC assist Ministry of Health to evaluate proposals from NGOs to carry out tobacco control activities in the country.
